For the journey in the course I needed to have a symbol, one that was a thread through my life. I thought about 'the river' as my symbol and found I was able to dive deeper into this symbol more than I had ever imagined I would. I went through many emotions and feelings which I experienced during my times on the river and how they hit the full spectrum of emotion and experiences. It took me back into my child hood and through my adult life. I don’t think there has been any other symbol that has given me so much ability to reflect about my life like a River.
Later in the progression of the course I sat down to do the drawing, I spent some time pondering, I was not sure what would surface. Then, it was exciting and so clear how to start. I began with color and used layers of colored pencils to try creating a veiling affect. Then I added the river and the two circles, a smaller one becoming the larger one which included the river running through it.
Reflecting back. My drawing has so much personal significance and meaning for me. I gained so much insight about my life. It represents how regular immersion of working with color can allow a veil to lift opening a door for my unconscious to speak to me, I see clearly how a the symbol, the river, carried a message for me which emerged through this course and in my meditations and dreams. To strive for a richer spiritual harmonious life immerse myself in my artistic expression and take time to be bathed by the sunrises and sunsets.
